Parental Responsibility Regarding Fireworks

We have sent a letter to the Ministry of the Interior requesting restrictions on the use of permitted fireworks (F2 and F3) on December 31st and January 1st. Additionally, we propose sanctions for parents who purchase unauthorized fireworks for their children, treating it as a criminal offense for violating the child’s rights.

Ministry Continues with Trawling Permits

We have participated in the public consultation for amendments to the “Regulation on issuing permits for commercial bottom trawl fishing at sea” and urged everyone to comment. The Ministry aims to extend the deadline for trawling permits until December 31, 2026, signifying two more years of continued devastation of the Adriatic. We emphasized that the recovery of the Adriatic is not possible through the legal regulation of bottom trawl usage but only through their complete prohibition.

Veganuary 2024.

In early January, we once again called on everyone to try veganism for Veganuary and watch the new hit documentary “You Are What You Eat: A Twin Experiment.” We highlighted various studies showing that plant-based meat is a healthier option than animal meat, while also saving innocent lives. Croatian food bloggers joined the campaign, sharing inspiring recipes and tips for the Veggie Challenge. Wealso announced that three people who sign up for the Veggie Challenge in January will be rewarded with a special gift package.

Closure of Unregistered Shelter in Crikvenica

After several complaints from us, the veterinary inspection has prohibited the operation of the Crikvenica Veterinary Clinic, which, as a legal entity, was conducting shelter activities. The Department of Inspection has ordered the relocation of eight dogs to other registered shelters, concluding this scandalous story on a positive note.

Inspection Deems Camels Are Domestic Animals

Last month, the State Inspectorate responded to us, stating that there is no non-compliance with the law in the operation of the Candy Circus. They argued that camels are domestic animals, and walking on hind legs is their characteristic behavior. We responded, concluding that their claims are arbitrary and contrary to the legal provisions they refer to.
