„I have no doubt that it is a part of the destiny of the human race, in its gradual improvement, to leave off eating animals, as surely as savage tribes have left off eating each other when they came in contact with the more civilized.” – Henry David Thoreau
Pet hotels need to be clearly regulated
Abandoning a dog or cat before vacation is not only extremely cruel but also punishable by law, but that doesn’t mean anything is better than that, or that it can justify leaving a dog on a leash that neighbors visit when it’s convenient for them, as well as leaving animals to pet hotels and boarding facilities that do not provide good conditions. We also stressed that the
conditions in boarding facilities should not be left to the hotels themselves, but it is necessary that they are clearly and carefully prescribed by the competent institutions and that the prescribed conditions should be stricter than those for shelters.

Animals in Europe suffer immence pain in experiments

We reminded that on July 21, 2005, the beagles that were illegally used in experiments at the Zagreb Veterinary Faculty were saved with our help. Unfortunately, the number of dogs used in experiments is on the rise, as confirmed by the latest European Commission report. The total number of animals used in experiments in European laboratories is more than 10.5 million, of which almost 26 thousand animals were used in Croatia in 2018! The increase in the use of primates in the EU is also worrying.
Floods are linked with meat and dairy industry

We reminded that the recent catastrophic floods in Germany, Belgium, but also in our country, are resulted by the climate change. Meat, dairy and egg industries have a devastating effect on the environment and natural resources and have a huge impact on climate change. It is a frightening fact that raising animals for meat, eggs and milk affects global warming more than all the world’s traffic. The solution is literally on our plates, so we call everyone to promote vegan products to save their lives as well as our planet.
Borna turned six months old!

Borna, the first calf in Croatia born in freedom, turned six months old to the delight of all his fans, and most of all his mother Šarava, for whom Borna is the first calf that was not taken away from her in order to end up in a slaughterhouse. Just as he was six months old the extreme rains flooded the Farmica to such an extent that they had to move him and many other animals more into the woods. In the moment when the situation became the worst and it was no longer possible to approach Farmica, the rain finally stopped and everything calmed down, so the lovely big baby can still fulfill his call – to call for a vegan lifestyle.
They capture wild animals, the inspection legalizes everything

We requested a review of last week’s veterinary inspection, which found that the conditions on the “farm” of Ivan Gospodnetić in Hvar, also known for the recent transport of a tiger by ferry, were “in line with the needs of each species and at a satisfactory level.” The locals of Hvar, on the other hand, claim that the local veterinary inspection is biased and that its positive findings enable Gospodnetić to keep and procure new animals at, as they claim, “Auschwitz of a farm”. We have asked the inspection a dozen very specific questions, but unfortunately, we expect further legalization. We call on everyone to condemn the keeping of animals in any form of captivity.
On ZeGeVege edible spoons and compostable packaging

At the 13th ZeGeVege Festival, everyone can get acquainted with the diverse offer of vegan food, educational books and clothing and footwear made of non-animal materials, but this year the event will also offer groceries whose packaging is compostable and inform public of other such innovations at the bio & bio store stand. For years, ZeGeVege has not used disposable plastic packaging or plastic bags. Visitors will also be able to choose items such as multiple linen pads and diapers, edible straws and spoons, and cosmetics without packaging.
