Animalist no. 200

„Could you look an animal in the eyes & say to it, ‘My appetite is more important than your suffering’? “
– Moby

Dogs and cats don’t know how to add, but they sure know how to multiply!

We introduced our new campaign “Dogs and cats don’t know how to add, but they know how to multiply!” With our billboards we warned about the excessive dog and cat reproduction, which is the main cause of people abandoning animals. In seven years, only one female dog and her offspring can give birth to 67,000 puppies, and only one cat and her offspring can give birth to as many as 420,000 kittens!

There are still many unvaccinated dogs in Croatia

On the occasion of the World Rabies Day, we warned that a large number of dogs have never been vaccinated against rabies, although this is mandatory. Cities and municipalities must carry out the control of microchipped dogs in their area, but this has not yet been done everywhere. According to available data from the Animal Protection Network, there are up to 20 percent of unchipped and unvaccinated dogs in Croatia, which are highly devastating news.

Every 10th person is a vegetarian!

New data shows that every year thousands of people opt for a more socially responsible lifestyle by switching to a more ethical and healthier diet. Vegetarians do not eat animals, while vegans avoid all foods of animal origin. More than 70 billion animals are slaughtered annually for human consumption, so the World Vegetarian Day, which is celebrated on October 1st, is a great opportunity to switch to a plant-based diet.

Be their voice!

On the World Farm Animals Day, as well as on the occasion of the World Animal Day, we pointed out the injustice, suffering and death of billions of animals that people torture, exploit and kill. In an impressive performance, tied with chains and with ribbons over our mouths, we portrayed the helplessness and difficult situation animals are in on a daily basis – in the meat, dairy, egg, fur, entertainment, cosmetics, tourism, sports and pet industries.
