Horses to Pull Lumber from Marjan Forest?
We reacted to the planned use of horses for pulling lumber from Marjan, the forest near the city of Split, and pointed out that such action would be a violation of the Animal Protection Act. The local officials eventually dismissed this option and will not be using horses.

All of the Meat is Disease-Ridden
After the public was shocked by the case of the slaughter of sick cows in Poland, whose meat was distributed all over Europe,
we pointed out to the absurdity of this kind of reporting, since this is part of the routine in the meat, egg and dairy industries. We warned that all of the meat from the industry is “sick”, as well as the state that the animals are raised in. They are regularly given antibiotics to stop the diseases from occurring, but the whole practice of raising them is “sick” in itself. Our indifference towards the suffering that animals go through is sick, too.
Delicious Vegan Dinner!
VEGAN THUGZ and Animal Friends Croatia organized a vegan dinner for non-vegans, the people who haven’t yet met with this lifestyle, but were curious to try it. With plenty of
delicious dishes to try, the guests of the interactive get-together had the opportunity to see why so many people in the world decide to switch to veganism. Some vegan seeds were surely planted.
Reaction to the Planned Shooting of Wild Boars
We reacted to the Decree on the reducing of the number of wild boars, due to the fear of occurrence of African swine fever. This disease still hasn’t been reported in the region, which is why we strongly disagree with the preventive mass killing of innocent animals.

News Flash
- Regarding a future funicular to Sljeme (peak of mountain Medvednica near Zagreb), we proposed that it should allow the transport of pets, as is the case with the rest of the public transport in the city of Zagreb.
- We asked the Ministry of Agriculture to start surveilling the local communities on proper implementation of the Animal Protection Act. We also reminded the local communities of their obligations.
- We commented on the online public counseling regarding the Regulation on the conditions and criteria for the allotment of the state aids for the damage done by birds and other animals on carp fish ponds, where we opposed any regulation that allows the killing or deterrent of birds near the fish ponds.
