“If we are serious about justice, serious about equality, and serious about our commitment to looking after the least among us, we owe something to the animals who suffer voicelessly among us.” – Bob Torres, Making a Killing: The Political Economy of Animal Rights

7th ZeGeVege Festival

We would like to use this opportunity to thank everyone for the fact that the most spectacular ZeGeVege Festival so far was once again successfully held! Our thanks go to all volunteers for carrying this demanding two-day project on their shoulders, to all 87 exhibitors, 23 performers, 20 lecturers for their participation, to the media for their coverage and our photographers for capturing those moments in time and to all sponsors and friends of the festival – without their support this festival wouldn’t be as rich and interesting. Not even rain prevented almost 40,000 visitors from attending the ZeGeVege Festival! You can check what this year’s Croatian Veganmania looked like in photo galleries on our web page, the official ZeGeVege web page and the ZeGeVege Festival Facebook page. See you next year!

Adopting is Cool – We All Love School

We joined the “Adopting is Cool – We All Love School” action of the Shelter for Abandoned Animals of the City of Zagreb whose aim was to show how important education is and to help raise funds for a new car that would enable Petra, the educator from Dumovec shelter and Sisi the dog to keep visiting children in Zagreb schools.

News Flash

  • We sent a letter to the mayor of Vis, Mr. Ivo Radica, addressing the problem of the hard life of dogs and cats on the island of Vis that mostly live in poor conditions because of the lack of legal implementation such as the spay/neuter, re-homing and educational programs.
  • We sent a letter to the Ministry of Agriculture about the veterinary inspector Snjezana Gutic Jakovljevic because of her unwillingness, but also of the unwillingness of inspectors in general, to act effectively upon receiving the report and to help animals.
  • We invite you to join our action on Oct 2 when we will mark World Day for Farmed Animals in collaboration with Farm Animal Rights Movement. If you are interested in joining the action, please contact us via this e-mail. Volunteer help will also be highly appreciated for marking World Vegetarian Day (Oct 1) and World Animal Day (Oct 4).
  • Thank you all for supporting and helping us mostly with this year’s ZeGeVege Festival, but also for following our activities and helping us in many ways by taking advantage of numerous member discounts and paying your membership fee, or by donating to us according to your means.

Best regards,
